The SFGS Philosophy

From time to time you run into people across the world who has a "Flamenco" feeling when they play their instrument. The way someone feel life and art has nothing to be with the country you grew up. Not always is a condition to feel "Flamenco"art although I recognize it helps. Someone who lives so far away from somenone who lives in Cadiz (Spain) can feel in the same way "Flamenco" music. This is the greatness of human being, the way way the connect each other their feelings. "Flamenco" culture has a deep and very particular way of feeling life. "Flamenco Art" is something else tant cannot be described in words, but I can assure you that it is not only music. It is more related with the way you understand life.

In every style in root music has been a period of time where the information was transmitted in an oral way but there is a point where to keep going forward it is required some organization in the information studied in order to assimilate more amount of information and keep developing your dexterity on the instrument.

Flamenco Guitar it is just now in this precise period of time. Internet provides us many resources where to learn new stuff but this has two opposite sides. One side is positive so we can get a lot of information even just for free and the other side It is really negative so we get confuse at the end.

If the information it is not been learn by choosing carefully the information it gets negative in the student learning processFor flamenco guitar students who are autodidacts to be successful in their self-teaching, they must possess self-discipline and perspective ant that is a problem for most of them.

Most of them don´t know when a subject or a concept studied it is ready to go to next step in the learning process. Most of times from the point of view of a student he thinks that he has ready a concept or an exercise and for the ears of a professional guitarist that´s not ready yet. That is the reason why it is really important to be supervised by a profesional.

The teacher give us the information in the correct time and in the proper way. He guide us by the learning process finding the right pace for the learning .Whatever art discipline we decide to study it is not an easy way to get through. Everything has to be with the concepts interiorization. Interiorize information takes time and need a lot of repetition.

A very common error in students is to believe that they has ready the new concept before they really has it I mean just “because he/she understood it “. Nothing could be further from the truth, that is the first step to control the information and the musical concepts. The experience from a professional flamenco guitar player, the spent time, hours and even years studying the instrument gives him a real perspective to face the teaching in a proper way so he has passed by all the stages in the learning process.

Our teaches team in the SFGS (Spanish Flamenco Guitar Society) own all this experience and together with application of psichology to adapt each student makes them a real value for every flamenco guitar student at SFGS.Guitarists come to SFGS (Spanish Flamenco Guitar Society) from around the world to study music and get the most form their talent.

For this reason SFGS is a uniquely international college. Students at SFGS are exposed to a wide variety of Flamenco artists and styles and musicians who comes from other music styles, so they can expand their knowledge in music beside Flamenco Guitar.
